Masco Moves More Business to St. Thomas

The City of St. Thomas, together with the St. Thomas Economic Development Corporation (EDC), today welcomed Masco Canada Limited’s announcement that they will be further consolidating their operations into the St. Thomas manufacturing facility.

The 120 employees already working in St. Thomas will soon be joined by the previously announced 187 people from the London operation and now by another 102 from the Brantford location.  This consolidation will increase Masco’s presence in St. Thomas to over 400 employees by 2011.

“The decision of Masco Canada Limited to further consolidate their manufacturing and distribution facilities in St. Thomas is very positive news for the City,” said Mayor Cliff Barwick.  “This is a prime demonstration of the support that industry has from City Council and of the hard work that the EDC is doing on a daily basis to save and generate employment in this City.”

Mr. Dennis Broome, President of the St. Thomas Economic Development Corporation, noted that, “Masco’s additional growth in St. Thomas will generate numerous opportunities for local businesses and individuals. The EDC is committed to fostering industrial and commercial growth and this announcement will continue the positive momentum that Masco initiated in the City earlier this year.”
